The FREEDOM project against fake news held its face-to-face kick-off meeting |

The French partner in the FREEDOM project, SOLUTION: Solidarité & Inclusion, was delighted to welcome its Italian colleagues, Le Tre Ghinee, the project coordinator, and its Greek colleague, KAINOTOMIA, to the capital to meet in real life for the first time since the project began on 31 March 2024.
The FREEDOM project is based on the observation that fake news is ubiquitous in the daily lives of Europeans, and that its sophistication makes it difficult for people with few information and communication technology (ICT) skills to detect it.
It therefore plans to create tools to equip seniors citizens to increase their digital literacy; namely, the FREEDOM partnership will develop:
- Local activities and practical workshops on surfing the Internet, the importance of fact-finding and the resources put in place by the EU to simplify the recognition of fake news.
- A multilingual online platform with integrated video tutorials and resources to combat fake news.
- Easy-to-follow video tutorials to help users recognise fake news and check the facts – accessible both on the platform and from mobile devices.
- A manual, available as an e-book, containing advice on how to choose reliable news sites, distinguish between real and fake news and identify false information.
In Paris, project partners got the opportunity to discuss the implementation of the first activity of the project: the video tutorials. The framework of the production of the videos was established as well as the workplan for the next 6 months.
It was an enjoyable and fruitful meetings and partners are excited to start this new collaboration!
